CLCC Executives Dominate 38th Horby's Invitational Horseshoe Event
All Eyes Now on Bass Masters Invitational This Weekend
September 13, 2025 | Lake Country, ON - In a thrilling display of skill and camaraderie, CLCC CEO Robert Simpson and Director of Finance Jeffrey Horbal clinched victory at the 38th Annual Horby's Invitational Horseshoe Tournament, hosted as part of the prestigious CLCC XXXVIII festivities.
The duo outlasted a competitive field of teams from across the region, showcasing both precision and nerves of steel in the final match. Spectators gathered around the iconic CLCC pits to watch Simpson and Horbal deliver a textbook performance, landing ringer after ringer in what has already been dubbed "one for the record books."
"Winning this on home turf makes it even more special," said Simpson, who has participated in the event for over a decade. "Jeffrey and I have been working on our game for years. Today, it all came together."
Horbal added, "There's a certain rhythm you get into when you trust your partner - and when you're not busy crunching budget numbers."
The Horby's Invitational has long been a cornerstone of the CLCC summer calendar, bringing together members, friends, and families for light-hearted but highly competitive play. With this win, Simpson and Horbal etch their names into CLCC folklore - and secure bragging rights until next year.
With the horseshoe dust now settled, attention turns to the final event of CLCC XXXVIII: the Bass Masters Invitational, set for this weekend. Last year, the event went unawarded for the first time in CLCC history, as not a single participant managed to catch a fish - a drought that left competitors humbled and hungry for redemption.
Will this be the year someone lands the big one? Organizers are hopeful, and with lake conditions favorable, expectations are high.
Stay tuned for updates from the lake as CLCC XXXVIII draws to a close.

Mocks Landing Golf Course hosts thrilling weekend of competition
CONLEY LAKE, Sept. 12, 2025 - In a weekend filled with competition, camaraderie, and perfect golf weather, Jeff Horbal emerged victorious at the 38th Annual Conley Lake Country Club (CLCC) meetings, clinching his eighth Conley Lake Open title with a net score of 71. The tournament was played at the scenic and challenging Mocks Landing Golf Course, known for its rolling fairways and unforgiving greens.
With this latest win, Horbal moves into second place on the all-time CLCC standings, just behind long-time front-runner and CEO Robert Simpson. Horbal's consistent play and veteran poise proved to be the difference on the back nine, where he carded a string of clutch pars to seal the deal.
